Weddings
Accommodates up to 350 people
Our beautiful Sanctuary, built in the Norman Gothic style in 1838, is available for weddings. Minister, Rev. Karen LeBlanc, will be delighted to officiate at weddings for both members of the church and their children, as well as for those who are not members.
Arts & Culture
Concerts, Lectures, & Community Events
We regularly partner with organizations like AHA!, the New Bedford Historical Society, the Martha Briggs Educational Club, the YWCA, the SouthCoast LGBTQ+ Network, SouthCoast Lessons, EPIC SouthCoast, and the Women's Alliance to bring events, music, discussions, and vigils to the community.

Baby & Child Dedications
Like many Unitarian Universalist congregations we offer child dedication ceremonies for infants, young adopted children, or young children whose families have recently joined the congregation.
​
Child dedication ceremonies are usually crafted by the parents and the minister working closely together. Many will include the following elements:

A blessing for the new life of the child

An expression of the parent(s’) or caregiver(s') hopes for the child
-
A promise by the congregation to support and nurture the child in their spiritual life
-
If not members of the church, a promise by family and friends to support and nurture the child in their spiritual life
Memorial Services
Services to honor loved ones who have passed on are often very personal occasions. At the First Unitarian Church, these services are developed by the family of the deceased and our minister to specially honor the memory of that individual. The service might include the following elements:

A time to remember the deceased with a story or anecdote

Hymn singing or other music

A time for personal reflection

Our Parish House, built in 1896, is the perfect venue for hosting your special event. Our spacious hall can accommodate up to 100 people and is a beautiful and historic setting for your special occasion.
