Sermon: “Women of Truth and Courage”
Karen is the founder and president of Friends of Kalangarai, a nonprofit organization that supports community-based programs for marginalized widowed women and their families in South India. The programs are implemented by the NGO Kalangarai and promote the human rights of women through economic independence, education, and community leadership. Since 2005, Dr. Kayser has been collaborating with Kalangarai on research and educational projects, service-learning trips, and filmmaking.
Dr. Kayser was a professor of social work at Boston College (1990-2011) and University of Louisville (2011-2020). Her areas of research and teaching included health and mental health and oncology social work.
