The Way Cool Sunday School Newsletter
March 2012
Women’s History Month, Swallow Day, Puerto Rico Emancipation Day, First Day of Spring, St. Patrick’s Day, Spring your Clocks ahead Day and in 1858 the pencil with attached eraser is patented by Hyman Lipman!
The Way Cool Sunday School children continue to add to their Badge of Knowledge. So far we have a Dharma Wheel {Buddhism} , the Star of David {Judiasm} and a piece of cloth representing our “Napkin Project!” This project is a process and all children will have the opportunity to earn an item regardless of attendance.
At our Religious Education {RE} Team meeting I shared with parents and members a possible new curriculum titled Spirit Play and We Believe for next year to provide continuity in both material, process and age apporpritae lessons. A short presentation outlining the curriculum will be available to view at our next scheduled RE Team meeting on 3/25. I value your input and invite any feedback you may have regarding curriculum and programming. I would like to thank all of the parents who signed up to “volunteer for the morning” in order to accommodate our growing numbers while we are in the process of hiring an educator for the 2012/2013 Way Cool Sunday School year. Many ideas have been generated and I am delighted to let everyone know that we have met or exceeded our goals for this year. One of the parents stated, “I love that my children are excited and eager to come to the Way Cool Sunday School.” That to me is priceless. We are all working together to provide our children and families the support they need to raise happy and healthy children including happy and healthy parents. Hooray for wholesome education.

Please feel free to contact the Director of Religious Education Yasmin Flefleh-Vincent at 508-994-9686 (ext. 11) or email at nbu718@aol.com for further information, questions, or comments about our Sunday School. We welcome all children and families to join our programs.
The RE (Religious Education) Committee meets once a month to determine the programs, policies and events for the children, youth and adults. Parents are encouraged to join the RE Committee.
Our Sunday School is a cooperative effort. Everyone works together to share their skills, time and energy to enrich our programs. We will provide you with everything to make the experience enjoyable and exciting. We use a “creative curriculum” approach to share the goals and objectives. Meaningful learning opportunities are woven throughout the curriculum ranging from community service, family dinners, world religions to environmental awareness. Children spend the first fifteen minutes in the sanctuary and then we head upstairs to the TRYWORKS classroom space. You are welcome to accompany your child to Sunday School. Nursery care is also available in the Parish House. A yearly fee of $25.00 is required at the time of registration. Each additional child is $15.00.
